Five Days of the Omer 5778

Today is five days of the Omer, הוד שבחסד, Hod ShebeChesed, Glory of Grace / Love.

Some traditions connect Hod to prayer, where it is said one deflates the ego and submits to the will of the Divine. From this, the value of humility became attached to glory.

Netzach and Hod are seen as the pillars that make it possible to bring the higher Sephirot into the material world. The Mishkan, the Tabernacle was built from Hod and Netzach. Which also connects these Sephirot with prophecy, the Divine will speaking through the conduit.

The majesty of life can be awe-inspiring. Watching a mind grow, get caught in cul de sacs, and grow some more is breathtaking. Whether that means observing how overwhelming tv shows can be or listening to the inner dialog of a two year-old who just found his voice, it’s all quite special. And at moments of reflecting on the power of humans to grow, humility is the pinnacle response.

Other times, acknowledging the prophetic voice within is the most important thing to be done. We cannot shy away from destiny. As you build a Mishkan for love and grace in your life, how will you secure its foundation? With humility? With prophetic messages? Both?

May you experience limitless love that propels you towards humility and prophecy. May you hear the voice within calling you to your depths. And may you have the courage to heed that call.
